A Brief Introduction to Why I'm Running

Craig for Hartsville City Council District 6

The three pillars of my campaign platform are communication, accountability, and innovation. More than just a buzzword, communication must be at the heart of our great city. I plan to focus on communication with residents and business owners, listen and act. Read on below.

My Platform

Communication:

Community engagement: Through initiatives like coffee with the councilman, forums, and community events I will foster open dialogue between residents, business owners, and the city council. My ultimate goal is to encourage citizen participation and listen to your concerns and ideas.

Enhanced online presence: Utilizing social media platforms and my campaign website; I will keep residents informed about city council activities, decisions, and upcoming projects. I will provide channels for feedback and suggestions to promote transparency and accessibility.

Accountability:

Transparency in decision-making: If elected, I pledge to conduct city council business in an open and transparent manner, not just because it is required but because it is the right thing to do. I am a fierce advocate for easily accessible public records, comprehensive meeting minutes, and clear explanations of decisions to keep residents informed.

Performance metrics and reporting: I will push to implement better metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of city programs and services. Holding city staff to report these metrics to residents, demonstrating progress and identifying areas for improvement. This will keep residents in the loop about what is happening in all areas of Hartsville. I support data-driven decision-making to prioritize resources and address community needs.

Innovation:

Encourage economic growth: I am focused on the importance of attracting new businesses and industries to Hartsville while supporting local entrepreneurs. Without local entrepreneurs we lose our quality of life and charm from businesses like boutiques and independently owned restaurants. If we lose the charm that these businesses provide, we lose any interest from larger business and industry when they consider opening in Hartsville. I am confident in Hartsville’s ability to support both small business and larger industry.

Sustainability and green initiatives: I will always be an advocate for environmentally friendly practices and policies. Supporting sustainable transportation options like better bike lanes and more public transit options, is not just good for the environment, it also improves equality so that everyone has the ability to get to work, earn a living, and enjoy Hartsville.
